Day 5 - Guinness Brewery and Irish Music

After sleeping in, we got up and had some fish and chips for lunch on the lawn of the Christ Church Cathedral, the church across the street from our hotel. The fish was cod and it was really yummy! After lunch we went on a tour of the church which was built in c.1030.
From the church, we walked to the Guinness brewery to go on the new Guinness Storehouse tour which was recently completed in 2000.
The tour was really interesting and modern. We learned about what ingredients goes into Guinness, about Arthur Guinness, how they used to make beer barrels, how beer is transported, and saw tons of marketing paraphanailia (collectibles) from over the years.
After the tour, we each got a pint of Guinness to sample...
...and a great view while we drank our beer.
After seeing St. Patrick's cathedral from our view in the Guinness brewery, we decided to go there and take a look. On our way there we stopped into some antique shops where items were way older than anything we've ever seen in an antique shop back home.
This antique store had tons of beer and alcohol stuff.
St. Patrick's Cathdral was breathtakingly beautiful.
After a little rest back at the hotel, Tammy took a nap to try to get rid of her cold and the rest of us went to go have an authentic Irish dinner. We ended up at Gallagher's Boxty House where we had...
...lamb boxty, chicken boxty, gaelic boxty, lamb sausage boxty which was really good and some lamb stew.
After dinner we went to the bar across the street and had some Guinness and Kilkenny. After leaving the bar and on our way to meet bakc up with Tammy, we saw a guy get literally thrown out of the bar across the street. He was thrown out on his side and ended up flying into a tree stand on the sidewalk.
With Tammy, we stopped at Fitzsimmons and watched some step dancers dance to live music.
Then we went to the bar where we saw that guy get thrown out earlier in the day. The bar was called Gogerty's. On the ground level there was a pub with pop music playing. Upstairs there was a live band and we had a great time. They stayed open past the normal 1130 pm that other pubs close at. They played some irish music and some blues. A boy from Austrailia joined them at playing the flute and there was a guitar player, a keyboard player, a bag piper/flutist, an accordian player and some banjo player who plays for the Fury.
At Gogerty's, Eileen had a taste of her 1st guiness cause she bowed to peer pressure and didn't want Z to kick her ass like he threatened to do if she didn't try some at least once while in Dublin.
Zoiks!
